Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş has declared 2018 the official Year of Troy as part of Turkey’s support for The European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. Events will include the opening of the Troy Museum, and an International Trojan Food Festival to be held in June.
The remains of the Bronze Age city of Troy were first excavated in 1863 near the city of Çanakkale in the Marmara region of northwest Turkey.
