Today in Moscow the FIFA 68th Congress designated Canada, Mexico and the USA joint hosts of the 2016 World Cup matches.

This is the first time World Cup hosting has been awarded to multiple countries.

67% of FIFA delegates voted for North America - which has promised FIFA a record $11B profit - vs. 33% for rival hosting hopeful Morocco, which would have had only 8 years in which to build the necessary 9 new stadiums plus hotels, highways, rail links and infrastructure.

Benefits to the tourism industries of Canada, Mexico and the USA should be enormous.
