The US Department of Homeland Security announced in a statement yesterday that in November 2021, "non-essential travelers who have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and have appropriate documentation" will be permitted to enter the US via land and ferry points of entry.
The necessary changes to Title 19 regulations will occur in 2 phases:
- In November, US CBP will begin allowing documented, fully vaccinated travelers from Mexico and Canada to enter by land or ferry for non-essential reasons.
- Beginning in early January 2022, DHS will require that ALL inbound foreign nationals crossing land or ferry points of entry provide proof of full vaccination for COVID-19.
Per the DHS statement: "This approach will provide ample time for essential travelers such as truckers, students, and healthcare workers to get vaccinated."
