Despite Canadian regulations that complicated returning home for Canadians visiting the US, following the reopening of US-Canada land and ferry borders on 8 November 2021, in December more than 55,000 Canadians entered Maine by car, up 40.3% from November and up 154.4% from December 2020.
Calais (pictured, above) was the #1 Maine entry point, with nearly 20,000 Canadian visitors in December.
In a normal year, Canadian visitors could be expected to spend about $300M in Maine.
