Canadian Tourism Minister Melanie Joly has announced the creation of an Advisory Council on Jobs and the Visitor Economy (Comité-conseil sur l'emploi et l'économie du tourisme) to be chaired by former NB Premier Frank McKenna.
The Council, which will support the development of a new national tourism strategy, will include representatives of tourism and other businesses charged with improving the popularity of Canada as a tourist destination. In recent years, Canada's rank as a destination has slipped from #10 globally to #17.
