Destination Canada has published a list of Key Messages supporting the recovery of Canadian tourism, along with Proof Points for each.

Key Messages are:

  1. Tourism is the hardest hit sector of economic activities.
  2. Canadians are key to supporting the recovery of the tourism sector.
  3. Canadians can feel confident in making travel plans as tourism businesses throughout Canada have made huge investments in new hygiene protocols...

Americans normally account for more than 2 out of 3 overnight visits to Canada.

But US-Canada land and sea borders have been closed since March 2020, with "little enthusiasm" on the part of Canadian government officials for reopening anytime soon.

A December 2020 survey by Expedia found "traveler confidence" of Canadians to be only 32%.
