Ottawa's TD Place stadium is one of 9 being considered by World Cup organizers as 2026 venue. But games at that level have traditionally been played on natural grass, and TD Place has artificial turf.

Regarding the 2015 Women's World Cup, the Washington Post said:

"For the first and likely only time in men’s or women’s World Cup soccer history, the games will be played on artificial turf."

Temperature of the artificial turf during that match reportedly reached 120 degrees F.

Economic impact (various sources) of the 2014 World Cup hosted by Brazil was: $13B investment producing $9B in incremental spend. Not a very good deal.

Maybe why anti-BostonOlympics2024 folks prevailed.
