If that happens, and Gov. LePage takes the full 10 days to act on the Legislature's proposed budget - which he has said he will do, and then veto it - Maine government will cease operations on 1 July except for some essential State-provided services:
- Prisons
- Hospitals
- State Police
- DEA
- Fire Marshalls
- Warden Service
- Marine Patrol
- Forest Service
- Capitol Police
- State Parks
- Island ferries
- Revenue Service
- Office of Information Technology
- One courthouse in each county
Gov. LePage has said that if necessary he will issue a Declaration of a Civil Emergency to become effective at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, 1 July.
