Maine Innkeepers Association's Greg Dugal reports that at the first 2018 filing date 81,500 labor certifications were requested for H-2B visas, vs. a nationwide quota of 33,000 visas, which was filled in March.
Lawmakers continue to struggle with a proposed quota exemption for returning workers. Currently proposed language gives the Secretary of Homeland Security the option to increase (or not) the total number of visas issued within certain limitations.
