On Friday 3 April 2020 Maine Gov. Janet Mills released An Order Establishing Quarantine Restrictions on Travelers Arriving in Maine.
Provisions of this Order include:
- Persons - resident or non-resident - entering Maine must immediately self-quarantine for 14 days.
- People are advised not to travel to Maine:
- If displaying symptoms of COVID-19
- From Detroit, Chicago or New York City
- If a resident of NY, NJ or CT
- All lodging operations and accommodations - including hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, inns, short-term rentals (VRBO, Homeaway, Airbnb and similar), RV parks and campgrounds, public and private camping facilities - shall close, except for those providing a narrow range of essential services.
- Online booking of accommodations shall be suspended.
- Lodging providers shall post a prominent notice on their web platforms that reservations will be accepted by phone only.
- All state agencies and departments which register, regulate or license lodging facilities shall provide an electronic advisory regaring the suspension of lodging operations.
- Violation of the Order may be charged as a Class E crime subject to a penalty of up to 6 months in jail and a $1000 fine.
