Newly formed subsidiary Aer Lingus (UK) Ltd has filed with US DOT and the UK Civil Aviation Authority for an air operator certificate to operate flights between the UK and US in summer 2021.
The subsidiary would base 2 Airbus A330-300s and 2 A321LRs - due to be delivered this winter - at Manchester Airport (MAN) for service to Boston (BOS) (daily in summer), New York John F. Kennedy (JFK) (daily year-round) and Orlando (MCO) (daily in summer, 4/week in winter), using the same IATA code as Aer Lingus.
Aer Lingus will compete directly with Virgin Atlantic on the New York and Orlando routes, but will have no competition on the Boston route.
