Last week Airbnb filed a federal lawsuit intended to prevent Boston's new short-term-rental ordinance from going into effect 1 January 2019 as scheduled.
The new rules would limit Airbnb properties in residential areas to owner-occupied dwellings.
Airbnb argues that the new regulations violate state and federal laws by, among other things, holding Airbnb responsible for the actions of its landlords, and requiring it to share information about landlords with the City.
Airbnb has also sued NYC and San Francisco. A settlement agreement with San Francisco requires Airbnb to register its landlords before allowing them to post listings.
