Posted 27 January 2018:

Proposed "Downeaster Coastal Connection" service using existing rail infrastructure would have stops at Bath, Wiscasset, Newcastle and Rockland.

Tentative schedule:

  • Friday: Leave Boston 5 PM, arrive Rockland 10:10 PM.
  • Saturday and Sunday
    • Leave Brunswick 7:50 AM, arrive Rockland 9:45 AM, arrive Boston 3:30 PM
    • Leave Boston 9:45 AM, arrive Rockland 3:10 PM, arrive Boston 9:30 PM

Some Midcoast residents think the schedule benefits tourists more thsan it does them.

(That's probably intentional, to give the service a chance of not losing money.)

Test runs are scheduled for March.

I've seen no published fares.
