United Airlines today announced plans to offer daily nonstop service between London Heathrow and Boston Logan using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, as soon as demand recovery and COVID-19 travel restrictions permit.
Along with 56 Economy and 43 Economy Plus seats, the 767-300ER has 46 United Polaris Business Class and 22 United Premium Plus seats - the highest proportion of premium seats of any widebody operated by a US carrier between London and the US.
United hasn't yet released fare information.
Since 28 December 2020, the UK has been under a US State Department Level 3: Reconsider Travel Advisory due to COVID-19. And the UK government requires anyone entering the country from abroad to quarantine and take/pass one or more COVID-19 tests.
It is currently unlawful for UK citizens to travel anywhere abroad for leisure purposes.
But United's plan looks like a promising "green shoot."
