Tax would be a 1% to 3% surcharge on hotel rooms.
Majority of lodging property owners in the proposed district, and the local government, would have to approve the tax.
State Rep Michael Finn's bill is now at the Revenue Committee.
I doubt that this will fly because (1) it will raise room rates (never popular), and (2) getting a majority of New England business owners in any industry vertical to agree on something is a tough sell.
