Massachusetts beaches reopen under Phase 1 today, subject to guidelines published by the State:
- Persons over age 2 must wear a face covering or mask - indoors or outdoors, except when swimming - when they cannot maintain 6 feet of distance between themselves and others (exceptions for some medical conditions).
- Maintain 6 feet of distance in restroom lines and facilities.
- Maintain 6 feet of distance between lifeguard stands and the public.
- No groups of more than 10 people can gather.
- Minimum of 12 feet between groups.
- No loitering or tailgating in parking lots or dropoff areas.
- Picnic areas remain closed unless social distancing can be maintained and sanitation performed between uses.
- No organized ball games of any kind.
- Capacity for Over Sand Vehicles limited to what provides 15-20 feet between vehicles at high tide.
- Indoor shower and changing facilities, water fountains and water refill stations remain closed.
- Food service limited to takeout.
- Visitors should expect limited or no trash disposal receptacles and adhere to "carry in, carry out" policy.
- Shuttle services to beaches are closed.
- Some beaches may have reduced parking.
