The Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT) reported yesterday that after a strong start in January and February 2020, lodging industry room rentals and revenues bottomed out in April as COVID-19 struck, recovered somewhat through August, but in September room sales were down 51% and revenues down 66% vs. September 2019.
30% drop in ADR from August to September caused the steeper decline in revenues.
At least 70,000 Massachusetts hotel workers have lost their jobs since the onset of the pandemic.
