If the $9.9B budget proposed by the RI House Finance Committee is approved, $400K in funding for promotion of the Americas Cup and a 1% increase in the state lodging tax to 6%(projected to raise $4.4M in revenues next year) - both measures proposed by RI Gov. Gina Raimondo - will be cut.
If the Finance Committee's budget is passed by the Legislature, Gov. Raimondo could veto it. That seems unlikely, but stay tuned.
