In a 5-to-4 vote on Tuesday the US Supreme Court ruled that enacting the ban on visitors from 7 countries "designated by Congress or prior administrations as posing national security risks" is within the President's powers.
The Court also cautioned lower-court judges against delivering universal injunctions that in effect make federal policy.
In response to the Court's opinion, some American tourist board officials have urged the administration to send a welcome message to potential inbound tourists.
