Recovery of International Travel Continues
Data newly released by the US National Travel & Tourism Office (NTTO) for June 2023 show:
- There were 4.227M non-US-citizen air passenger arrivals in the US, up 19.7% from June 2022
- Arrivals were at 80.2% of pre-pandemic June 2019 level.
There were 2.551M overseas visitor arrivals for trips involving overnight stays of at least one night - 73.2% of June 2019 level. This was the 20th consecutive month with 1M+ such arrivals.
Top world regions for air travel to/from the US were:
- Europe: 7.424M passengers, up 15.9% vs. 2022, down 7.0% vs. 2019
- South/Central America/Caribbean: 5.303M passengers, up 13.5% vs.2022, up 3.8% vs 2019
- Asia: 2.165M passengers, up 103.0% vs. 2022, down 35.2% vs. 2019
Top 3 US ports for international arrivals were:
- New York (JFK) 3.126M
- Los Angeles (LAX) 2.040M
- Miami (MIA) 1.899M
Top 3 foreign ports serving US destinations were:
- London Heathrow (LHR) 1.723M
- Cancun (CUN) 1.205M
- Toronto (YYZ) 1.042M
Arrival/Departure data reported by NTTO have been collected by the US DHS/CBP Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) since 2010.
