Maine Gov. Janet Mills announced yesterday tightened restrictions on Thanksgiving gatherings to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Beginning today, 20 November 2020, a 9 PM curfew will be in force through Sunday 6 December for the following types of businesses and venues:
- Indoor and outdoor amusement venues including:
- Movie theaters
- Performing arts venues
- Casinos
- Businesses that provide seated food and drink service including:
- Bars
- Tasting rooms
- Restaurants
- Social clubs
Per US CDC, behavior of 20-somethings - hanging out in groups, going to bars and restaurants - likely keeps the virus circulating.
Gov. Mills said in a media release that the stricter measures are consistent with actions taken by Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont and New York.
Enforcement guidelines for businesses are said to be forthcoming soon.
