Tanaiste Dr. Leo Varadkar said at a media conference this week that June is "too soon" for even fully vaccinated Irish people to travel abroad for summer holidays, and rules on international travel will be relaxed only after the Irish economy has significantly reopened - perhaps "later in the summer, or later in the year."
Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney said that although the EU Green Passport is expected to be available in June, any changes to travel advice will be "gradual," and he urges Irish people - and potential inbound tourists - not to book flights yet, as non-essential travel is still "against the law."
Mr. Coveney also said that the Government's reopening plan for the summer months will be forthcoming in the next 10 days.
