The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) of the US Federal Reserve System announced on 6 July 2018 that in June US nonfarm employment increased by 213,000 and the unemployment rate increased by 0.2% to 4.0%. Most job growth occurred is professional and business services, manufacturing and health care.
Employment in the leisure and hospitality industries remained essentially flat despite the onset of the summer tourist season.
