December 2022 US air pasenger arrivals +48% yoy
New data from the National Travel and Tourism Office of the International Trade Administration show that non-citizen air passenger arrivals from foreign countries were:
- Up 48% in December 2022 vs. December 2021
- At 78% of December 2019 level in December 2022
- Up 108% in CY 2022 vs. CY 2021
- At 66% of CY 2019 level in CY 2022
In December 2022, 2.482M international visitors made trips to the US with stays of one or more nights, the 14th consecutive month with more than 1 million visits.
For CY 2022, 23.953M international visitors arrived, +161% vs. 2021 and 59% of 2019 level.
Top international source markets in 2022 were:
- Mexico
- Canada
- UK
- Dominican Republic
- Germany
Top US ports for international visitors in CY 2022 were:
- New York (JFK)
- Miami
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- Newark (EWR)
- Chicago (ORD)
European and South/Central America/Caribbean markets continued to strengthen in 2022, but Asian markets remained stuck at -68% vs. 2019.
