Directorship Opportunity
The US Department of Commerce has announced an opportunity for travel and tourism leaders to apply for membership of the Board of Directors of Brand USA.
USDOC has announced in a Federal Register post that it's recruiting new members for the Brand USA Board of Directors.
The Travel Promotion Act of 2009 established the non-profit Corporation for Travel Promotion which does business as Brand USA and is responsible for:
- Providing information to persons wishing to travel to the USA
- Addressing perceptions of US entry policies
- Do promotions to maximize benefits of travel to the USA
- Ensure inbound travel benefits all US states and territories and DC
- Promote urban and rural travel equally
- Prioritize countries and populations most likely to travel to the USA
- Promote USA tourism through digital media and online platforms
By statute, the Board consists of 11 members including one member from each of these travel industry sectors: attractions/recreation. air, immigration, land or sea passenger transport.
Requirements for directorship include:
- International travel or tourism experience
- Current or former CEO, CFO, CMO or equivalent
- US citizen
- Not federally registered as lobbyist or foreign agent
