The municipal government of Sanya, a resort city in China's Hainan Province, has announced plans to launch a tourist promotion board with a view toward recovery from the adverse effects of the coronavirus outbreak on inbound tourism.
The new organization will be a public-private partnership funded by the city's Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports and 10 private-sector tourism businesses, and managed by a committee of sponsors.
Activities planned include promotion planning, organizing tourism and cultural events, international marketing and joint promotions with airlines.
Airlines serving Sanya include China Eastern, China Southern, Air China, Hainan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, United and Delta. But there are no direct flights between Sanya and US airports.
