In order to try to offset loss of American tourists following the Trump administration's ban on US-Cuba cruise ship travel, Cuba's Ministry of Tourism has launched an "Authentic Cuba" campaign in China. Ads depicting iconic Cuban scenes and happy tourists are being displayed on buses traveling routes through business centers in Shanghai, Beijing and Ghangzhou.
Cuba received about 46,000 visitors from China in 2018, most of whom arrived from nearby countries and not via weekly Air China Beijing-Havana flights.
