China-based Fosun Tourism Group - owners of Club Med and now the new owners of world's oldest (founded 1841) travel firm Thomas Cook - have relaunched the brand in the UK as an online-only travel agency specializing in "Covid-ready" destinations that are on the UK Government's travel corridor list, including Italy, Greece and Turkey.
Thomas Cook went into administration in September 2019 while negotiating a buyout by Fosun. But Fosun chose to allow the company to go into administration, then later bought the name for €11M.
Plans are for Thomas Cook customers to be able to book airlines, hotels, transfers, car rentals, and airport parking - and buy travel insurance and do currency exchange - online at ThomasCook.com .
