Under the pilot program launched in November in Shanghai, WeChat is partnering with city and national tourist boards, tour operators and tourism suppliers to create travel "mini-programs."
These include digital maps, photos, audio guides in Chinese and English, and 5-day itineraries.
Future plan is for users to be able to pay for everything without leaving the WeChat app.
With the initial mini-programs now live, WeChat has started a marketing campaign with travel agents and booking sites, along with QR code links at airport departure desks in China.
I was unable to find anywhere a link to WeChat information for DMOs wanting to participate in these mini-programs. If you know where to find that, please let me know and I'll post.
