A Clare councilor has suggested “Ring of Lough Derg” as a possible new brand.

There's feeling that the Lough Derg region has been left behind since Tourism Ireland took over responsibility for tourism in the region from Shannon Development.

Even with Tourism Ireland - which right now has bigger fish to fry - taking the lead on a rebranding initiative, with 2 County Councils and numerous towns involved, I'm afraid it's going to be difficult to get agreement on one course of action.But I wish them all the luck in the world.
