This "Industrial Strategy" represents a shift toward more intervention in the UK economy by the UK government - picking winners, essentially.
The initiative by the tourism industry - organized by the British Tourist Authority - has cleared the first hurdle toward being picked as a winner.
Their ambitious plan includes development of a 10-year skills campaign, extending the tourist season to year-round, improving air access, and creating "tourism Zones."
This wouldn't work in the USA but maybe it will in the UK.
I wish them the best of luck.
FYI, here's the extensive Industrial Strategy Green Paper.
