This initiative takes advantage of the Volvo Ocean Race making a stop in Cardiff in May and June.
The 2008-2009 race - which also made a stop in Boston - drew 600,000 spectators to Galway, Ireland along with 36M euro incremental spending for 200,000 bednights, meals, entertainment, merchandise, more.
The Welsh government is providing 2M GBP in support to 38 tourism-related projects.
Wales had a good tourism year in 2017 - see the Related Articles, above - at least in part because since the Brexit vote the weak GBP has put the UK on sale for Americans and visitors from the Eurozone.
Continued favorable exchange rates plus the Volvo Ocean Race look like a recipe for Welsh tourism success in 2018.
