A South Portland landlord has handed in to the City Clerk a petition with 1484 signatures that's intended to force a City Council re-vote on the city's recently enacted short-term-rental ordinance.
If the Clerk finds 1000 or more signatures to be valid, the Council will have to reconsider its earlier vote on the ordinance. The Clerk has 20 days in which to validate signatures.
Friction between petitioners and abutters is heating up.
Stay tuned.
