Three Maine generating companies are seeking to intervene in the PUC's review process for CMP's proposed transmission line that would carry power from Hydro-Quebec to Lewiston, where it would be put into the New England electric grid to be available in Boston and points south.
The generating companies argue that the CMP project will have no benefit to Maine electric customers, and would upset the Maine wholesale electricity market.
CMP itself is no longer in the power-generating business - strictly delivery, which makes the transmission line project very attractive to its management and shareholders.
