Bay Ferries Ltd has announced in a brief blurb on its website that it plans to operate The Cat ferry between Yarmouth, NS and Bar Harbor, ME beginning sometime in the spring of 2022.
Land borders and ferry points of entry between the US and Canada have been closed to nonessential travel since March 2020 because of COVID-19.
US DHS announced earlier this week that beginning in November 2021, "non-essential travelers who have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and have appropriate documentation" will be permitted to enter the US via land and ferry points of entry.
The Cat last ran between Yarmouth and Maine in the summer of 2018. The 2019 season was canceled because of terminal construction delays at Bar Harbor - following the change of Maine port from Portland to Bar Harbor - and the 2020 season was canceled because of COVID-19.
