The NH Office of Outdoor Recreation Industry Development - created by the state budget approved by Gov. Chris Sununu in September - will be part of the Department of Business and Economic Affairs, which currently consists of the Division of Economic Development and the Division of Travel and Tourism Development, all under Commissioner Taylor Caswell.
Cost for setting up the new office will come entirely out of federal funds.
Winter sports including skiing and snowboarding, which skew toward a younger demographic, are the most popular forms of outdoor recreation in New Hampshire, and the sector accounts for more than 3% of GSP.
