Government of New Brunswick 28 October 2016

In a media release, the Government of New Brunswick has announced that it's developing a "renewed, comprehensive tourism strategy" to boost tourism by:

  • focusing on the tourism potential of Canada 150
  • increasing promotion of both staycations and extended vacations for visitors
  • investing in infrastructure including improved signage

(FYI, Canada 150 celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada. Info is here.)

There are also plans to leverage opportunities related to local food and beverages, and increase efforts to develop NB as an all-season destination.

Premier Brian Gallant said:

“We will not sit by and hope that the tourism sector will grow by itself. We will roll up our sleeves and work hard with partners to get results and grow jobs in tourism all across New Brunswick.”

I think NB is going to be a hard sell as an all-season destination. But they're giving it a good shot with their "Discover Real Winter" campaign, and I wish them every success with this.
