South Carolina DMOs, like those everywhere, have traditionally courted travel writers who are able to get stories about their destinations published in traditional media.
But recently some have turned their attention to bloggers and social-media influencers.
In some cases DMOs are offering expense-paid visits to their regions in exchange for social-media posts and photo rights.
If you're going to try this approach, to avoid the embarrassment of an FTC investigation, make sure media people who promote your destination are disclosing any compensation you provided.
