President Donald Trump signed with Chinese officials yesterday an initial trade deal under which China has agreed to more than double its purchases of American soybeans, wheat, cotton and pork in Year One.

For its part, the US agreed to reduce tariffs on $120B in Chinese products.

President Trump said:

"Together we are righting the wrongs of the past and delivering a future of economic justice and security. Most people thought this could never happen."

Chinese President Xi Jinping said the deal is

"...good for China, the US and the whole world."

This beginning thaw comes none too soon for US tourism. China is the largest travel export market for the US, accounting for 3M visits and $17B spend in 2018.
