Economic Development Committee had proposed investing $5000 in contracting for development of a destination-marketing plan for the town, and received 5 bids, but Selectmen voted this down. Rationale for that decision was apparently that there are free marketing opportunities available of which the town isn't yet taking advantage.
So a subcommittee of the EcDev Committee will now be doing any planning and marketing on a volunteer basis.
Unfortunately, this will all sound familiar to anyone who has ever served on any kind of board or committee in a small New England town.
