California to launch Native American initiative
A Visit California initiative to launch in spring 2023 will showcase Native American experiences and cultural heritage while strengthening relationships with tribal governments.
California's current budget includes $100M for partnering with tribal governments on nature-based solutions to climate change, and another $9.8M for improved education and interpretation of Native American history and culture in state parks.
California has a Native American population of 720,000, the largest of any US state.
