The US economy continued to grow in April 2022, with employers adding 428,000 jobs and the unemployment rate holding steady at 3.6%, the lowest level since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wage growth slowed slightly, to 0.3% from 0.4% in March.
Once again, the Leisure and Hospitality sector gained the most jobs: 78,000, including 44,000 at eating and drinking places and 22,000 at lodging businesses.
Currently 60.0% of working-age Americans are employed, a figure little changed in recent months.
And 1.7M persons reported that they didn't work at all in April, or worked fewer hours, because their employer closed or lost business as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
