The Hellenic Republic Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Greek National Tourism Organization has launched a €2M campaign promoting 4 Aegean islands - Samos, Leros, Chios and Lesvos - formerly overwhelmed by migrants from Turkey and elsewhere outside the EU, using the tagline "Four ideal destinations await you for a safe holiday experience."
The campaign, which is is funded by the Migration & Asylum Ministry, is intended to rebrand the islands with an improved image abroad, to increase tourism visitation and spend so as to compensate local communities for the burden placed on them by uninvited migrants.
