The Institute for Public Policy Research finds that London and the south-east of England are the only parts of the UK that continued to attract EU nationals in any numbers in the past 12 months.
Researchers conclude that"... a uniform migration system with no regional flexibility will fail to meet the different labour and demographic needs around the country after Brexit..."
The Institute proposes that a system of subsidies calibrated to demand vs. supply of immigrant labor be put into place to address regional labor shortages.
Definitely need to do something - and fast. Stay tuned.
