Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras last week presented to his cabinet a 100-page national development plan entitled Greece: A Growth Strategy for the Future.
This is believed to be the first-ever plan of its kind for the country as a whole.
Tourism-related provisions of the plan include:
- tax breaks for foreigners who move to Greece
- investment in agritourism
- establishment of Greece as a top-3 Mediterranean destination
- promotion of year-round tourism in Rhodes and Crete
- investment in vocational training
- incentives for film companies
- regulation of short-term rentals
An ambitious plan - let's watch and see how the execution goes.
