In a press conference this morning UK PM Theresa May announced that a revised proposal has been agreed upon that will avoid a hard Ireland-NI border.
This follows adjustments being made to an earlier proposal to satisfy the concerns of Arlene Foster and the DUP.
Ireland Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has praised the agreed-upon solution as "politically bulletproof."
Under the solution agreed upon, the UK will continue to enforce certain EU rules in Northern Ireland, but with NI remaining outside the EU Customs Union and Single Market, and without customs checks at the Ireland-NI border.
