Tourism Ireland will be presenting partner on the IMAX "Ireland" documentary produced and distributed by MacGillivray Freeman Films that's scheduled to be released in February 2022. It's planned that the film will be the centerpiece of Tourism Ireland's entire 2022 promotional campaign, backed up by PR, digital and social media.
The film, shot pre-pandemic in 2020, will be narrated by Liam Neeson, and follows writer Manachan Magan and concert violinist Patricia Treacey as they connect Irish people around the world with their homeland.
Tourism Ireland paused their paid advertising when COVID-19 closed the country's borders in March 2020.
In June 2021, when the Government of Ireland announced reopening to international visitors to begin in July under the EU Digital Green Certificate system, Tourism Ireland launched its €3.5 "Let's Get Back to Ireland Campaign."
And in September 2021, Tourism Ireland began rolling out its "Press the Green Button" campaign in selected international markets.
In December, the Government of Ireland instituted a requirement that all inbound passengers must show proof of a negative pre-departure COVID test - a requirement dropped last week for fully-vaccinated persons.
