Failte Ireland CEO Paul Kelly said in an interview today that although international marketing plans are in the works, recovery of Ireland's inbound tourist numbers to pre-pandemic levels may be as long as 4 years in coming.
Until then, Irish tourism businesses may have to rely heavily on the domestic market.
Meanwhile, Tourism Ireland is currently targeting a long list of countries including the US, UK, Germany, France and Italy with localized versions of its "Green Button" and "Fill Your Heart with Ireland" campaigns. A new IMAX documentary promoting Ireland tourism and narrated by Liam Neeson is set to be launched in February.
Failte Ireland is the National Tourism Development Authority of the Republic of Ireland, while Tourism Ireland is the organization established under the 1998 Belfast Agreement to market overseas the Island of Ireland - both the Republic and Northern Ireland.
