As of Monday 21 September 2020, countries on Ireland's "Green List" of countries to which residents of Ireland can travel for non-essential reasons with only "normal precautions" will be:
- Cyprus
- Finland
- Germany
- Iceland
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Poland
New additions are Germany, Poland, Cyprus and Iceland.
However, as of the same date, the following countries will be removed from the Green List, and advisories changed to "avoid non-essential travel":
- Estonia
- Greece
- Greenland
- Hungary
- Italy
- Norway
- Slovakia
Per the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Green List countries are limited to:
"EU / EEA countries with a 14 day cumulative number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 of 25 or less, based on the latest data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC)"
Europe's largest airline (passenger numbers) RyanAir reacted to the reduced Green List - particularly the removal of major tourist destinations Greece and Italy - in a media release calling on the government to put an end to its "chaotic mismanagement" of travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
