Ireland Tourism Minister Catherine Martin said in an interview yesterday that in 2 weeks the government will release a plan intended to restore domestic tourism by June or July 2021.
Ms. Martin and Tanaiste Leo Varadkar will be meeting with representatives of the tourism and hospitality industries in May, to get input for the new plan.
However, Ms. Martin offered no encouragement in regard to inbound international tourism this summer.
Persons entering Ireland from any of 71 "Category 2" countries - which include the US and Canada - face mandatory hotel quarantine at their own expense.
All persons arriving in Ireland from another country not on the Category 2 list (except Northern Ireland) must pass a pre-departure COVID-19 test, submit a Passenger Locator Form, and quarantine for 14 days at the address on that form.
Meanwhile in the US, Ireland is under a State Department Level 3 Travel Advisory (Reconsider Travel) and a CDC Level 4 Travel Health Notice due to COVID-19.
